How do you know if an advertising server is worth it? I have compiled a list of most effective advertising servers. A few names that immediately come to mind are CallMeCarson's Discord Cult, Sounds World, Advertise Your Server, Self Promotion Central, and Discord Emoji & Servers. The effectiveness of an advertising server can typically be accurately deducted by the size of the server, as well as the frequency in which one is allowed to post.
Out of all the servers I listed above, the only server which has any meaningful restriction is AYS. Carson, Sounds, and Discord Emoji are all large servers which allow you to post your ad every single hour, which technically gives you 24 ads per day. Not bad right? SPC has an unlimited advertising channel. AYS is the outlier here allowing 4 ads per day. Due to this rule it is in fact very likely that AYS is the lease effective on this list, in fact my statistics would confirm this notion.
As these first two paragraphs should make clear, gaining members from servers easily is a combination of the server growing at a strong rate, and the server allowing you more exposure. More exposure is the result of lax rules. Servers with strict rules, for example, 4 ads per day with no unlimited channel, are generally much less effective than servers with this 1 hour per post rule. This effect is even enhanced tremendously when more than one user is promoting your server on any server, as this would allow cooldowns to be somewhat bypassed.
I'd like to remind anyone reading this that an advertising server with strict rules is inherently antithetical to the server's purported goal of helping you grow your server. Strict rules do not in any way increase join rates, they simply decrease exposure. I have also heard of the less is more theory, in which certain users assume that because you can't post your ad as often, more people will see it, because it won't be buried and intercepted as quickly. This theory however has absolutely no evidence to back it up. What I can conclude with evidence however, is that most of the users who join my servers from advertising platforms typically join from servers with very light rules.
If you would like to check out a decent server with lax rules where you can post your ad in many categories every hour, you should check out Advertising Boat. I am promoting this server out of merit, and gaining nothing by doing so. I highly recommend this server and I have in fact gained members from it. This server currently has 3700 members, which is actually very good for a new advertising server. Their rules are so chill that you can technically post in 10+ channels, and the mods won't remove your ad unless it doesn't fit the category in any way. The link is below:
