Something that's always confused me about advertising, is how it appears that there are far more people involved in partnership management than actually advertising on servers, and I think that this is due to the fact that most people involved in Discord advertising are far more aware of the existence of partnerships and have very little knowledge of the existence of advertising servers, and more importantly, their effectiveness.
My inspiration for writing this page came from this morning, when a client of mine who I sell ads to told me that the only form of advertising he was really aware of was partnering, and this seems to be a common phenomenon within the community. The reason this baffles me so much is because not only do partnerships require more effort to initiate, but they are also far less effective than advertising on ad servers. Take it from me, someone who has both mass partnered in the past, and has quite a lot of experience advertising.
In fact, quite a large portion of DGP's 10k members comes from advertising servers, and you might believe this could be due to the fact that DGP is an advertising server, but my data while promoting other types of servers proves that this is not the case. I have promoted community servers, giveaway servers, gaming servers, and other types of servers and have always experienced pretty good results based on my ad.
In fact, take a look at this piece of information from Invite Tracker.
What does it say? Well, this invite link comes from advertising servers only, and does not include partnerships. This image shows that as of today (4 days after creating the invite link and promoting it on a daily basis) I managed to gain 65 net users (users who haven't left the server). Again, this is in 4 DAYS, and I achieved this simply by posting my ad in my fast combo folder several times throughout the day, and advertising in my slow folders a couple of times per day.
It only takes a couple minutes of my time, and when you compare it to partnerships in terms of effectiveness it's not even a close comparison. I used to spend up to 30 minutes each day partnering with other servers, and I would gain, I don't know, maybe around 50 members per 200 partnerships. Now I don't mean to bash partnerships because I do believe they have their uses and are worth including in your advertising arsenal, but compared to advertising on Discord Servers, it's not even a close comparison on any level whatsoever. In terms of total joins per input, this would be like comparing the height of your house to the height of burj khalifa. It's not even a remotely similar comparison.
