I am writing this post to explain why I personally only like to do rep4rep partnerships.
There are three main types of partnerships that I see people do. The most common is a standard partnership, but there are also ping4ping partnerships and rep4rep partnerships. What is a rep4rep partnership? To the few of you who have literally no idea what I'm talking about: A rep4rep partnership is a standard partnership with the inclusion of a rep for a rep. The key word here 'rep' is short for representative, so you would be sending a representative(or an ambassador, if you like to use savvy dramatic terms like I do) to your partner's server, and vice versa. Or in layman's terms, you both join each other's servers while posting each other's ads your respective partnership channels.
Why do I only do these types of partnerships? Simple. Because they actually work.
Rep4rep partnerships are the only type of partnership that will assure that at least one person from the partnership will join your server. These types of partnerships are useful if you need numbers for any reason. In my case however, since I am running a growth server, I can benefit from rep4rep partnerships in a way that's unique to growth servers. This is because reps are looking to advertise and grow, so I can get many of my reps to actually use my server as a platform to advertise their own. This is what I like to call a productive rep, a rep who uses your server rather than adding empty weight.
Why I have a low opinion of standard partnerships.
Standard partnerships rarely work because your ad will typically just gets quickly buried beneath piles of other servers, and it's wishful thinking to expect members to watch partnership channels in the first place. There is also no practical reason to assume that a standard partnership will be any more effective than posting your ad on an enormous amount of listing servers, which in my opinion works much much better overall. Listing servers typically allow users to repost to post multiple ads daily (on average 4 ads per day in total), and within a range of categories. My opinion is basically that people have confusing priorities, and they seem to overestimate standard partnerships.
Ping4Ping partnerships
Ping4Ping is sometimes a really good option. I think that it's the best form of partnership when both servers involved have partner pings, as long as a lot of members have the role. I wouldn't recommend doing ping4ping if your server (and the other involved) are using @everyone or @here because that's inconsiderate to other members who aren't interested in partnerships, so I recommend giving users an option to have a partner ping and an announcement ping to mitigate the frequency of which you'd use @everyone and @here.
